1 pound ground round
1 t salt
1/4 t pepper
6 finely crumbled crackers
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
1 small onion finely chopped
1/4 of med. bell pepper finely chopped
1 t worchestershire sauce
1 egg
1 can tomatoe sauce
4 slices bacon
ketchup
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix all ingredients except the bacon and ketchup in a large bowl. Pour mixture into a loaf pan. Top with ketchup first. Then place bacon strips on top. Bake for 45 min. Remove from oven pour off drippings (leave some or it will be dry). Return to oven for another 15 min. Let cool just a bit before trying to slice it into portions. NOTE: If you are out one of the ingredients that’s ok. The only thing that will make a huge difference in flavor is the bacon that should be placed on top. If you don’t have bacon don’t try this recipe. The bacon is the secret to the flavor.
